What is The Daily Commute?

Imagine waking up in the morning, grabbing your mp3 player, and on the way to work, listening to a personalized set of news headlines, the sources of which you can pick yourself from popular websites like SlashDot, Wired, CNet, or your favorite blogs.

The Daily Commute is a Windows application that requires the .NET 1.1 Framework. It uses the latest Text-To-Speech (TTS) technology to create MP3 files of the stories. You can use any SAPI speech engine voice. If you haven't heard TTS technology lately, check out the online demos from ScanSoft, Acapela Group, and Cepstral
